So id have to ask how you can tell they are in pain just because they react to stimuli?
i read the paper and found that all they did was detect a strange noise that the plants would emit when happy or stressed, but how can you tell if this is different from any other basic reaction to stimuli?
from what we know of plants it is impossible for them to perceive pain because they lack a real nervous system and reacting to stimuli absolutely does not equal having the ability to feel pain
id ask you to read this in turn

it was able to be controlled via electrical impulses make it have a pseudo-nervous stem. being vegan does not mean it is not harming the environment https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20200211-why-the-vegan-diet-is-not-always-green

your asking a lot of me to watch a whole tedtalk
can you give me the timestamps so i can just go and see the specific parts your citing?
also
"Unlike us and other animals, plants do not have nociceptors, the specific types of receptors that are programmed to respond to pain. They also, of course, don’t have brains, so they lack the machinery necessary to turn those stimuli into an actual experience. This is why plants are incapable of feeling pain."
as im not sure that you bothered to read what i linked you

caleb i just said that being vegan means doing as little harm as possible, not doing absolutely no harm

Whether it is a plant or an animal either way you kill a living thing. The fact that other animals kill animals for food makes any vegan activist sound dumb.
Have you seen stuff like lizards eating? They grab the animal and literally batter it to death before consumption. Something NATURAL while we kill animals in the least painful way possible but we mest eaters are evil. Animals in processing plants have ot easy. Rather than searching for miles for food its brought right to them. They are able to eat and get the resources they need.

panda im not going to debate your points. do you want to formally debate me or no?

can you give me the time stamps or just spell out what he says? i know they have very, very basic nervous systems but they are too basic to process pain, they simply do the barest of reactions to stimuli, like a venus fly traps mouth simply acting like a spring lock trap and not actually moving on its own

hmmmmmmm to be honest i don't really think that way.
like i couldn't care less how much a rat suffers before i'm gonna cook it and eat it. i don't know why i should?
in the end everything dies anyway. and why would it matter if it had suffered or was happy?
even for us, in the end it does not matter if we were happy or if we suffered. because at the end there is still death.
if there were different animals or higher beings that would be on the top of the food chain, why would they care if we are suffering or not. they would probably boil us alive.
also see this is the part of veganism that i think is bull, it's been created and held alive by snowflakes that had never suffered and feel bad for any animals that land on the platter.
about the egg -milk thing, ofc we don't need it. you also don't need a lot of things in life. but you choose to have them. you're like saying- show me proof that we need Quinoa to live off. like- there's no point and you probably won't find a random guy writing about it on the internet. to me any life is precious. and this is why i want to maintain or better this planets ecology.
but i won't really care now if you rip a plants leaves off one by one, or if some guys torture an animal before they eat it. dead is dead. what can't survive dies. it is cruel but it's the fundamental law of the universe.
also as the next topic i'd like to talk about "choosing who dies and who doesn't" as i had a basic but effective idea for that which i had not remembered when u asked me before~
