@Ren So can I quick clarify your position? If I misunderstand something, you can let me know. So, from what I understand, you are okay with people having abortions because it can spare the baby from living an unhappy life, right? And if you carry out the pregnancy and give it up for adoption it still has a high probability of living a terrible life. So if you can't afford it, you should abort it, right? So, given all that, in the hypothetical where you lost your job after carrying out the pregnancy, shouldn't you just kill it since if you were to set it up for adoption you can't really know if that family will treat the child well?

@Mio Well, what I think is that, if a parent lost their job, and they wanted the child, they would do their best to try to keep it. Asking for help to family, friends, trying to find a new job, etc. If they really have nothing else they can do, I think that at least, they would wish that their child could have at least the chance of having a good condition and life.
Also, sorry for any misunderstandings, but I'm not good at all with words, specially in english xdd

I don't really lurk here much on days I work, so I've missed a lot. Just wanted to add that labels like "pro-choice" and "pro-life" are loaded and people make a lot of assumptions on a series of beliefs you may hold if you say you're one or the other. The issue is more nuanced than just this or that. Believing in a woman's "bodily autonomy" as Lamb put is something I can agree with. At the same time though, a fetus is most definitely not a parasite. Sure, its a fun way of calling someone who doesn't really contribute to something, but biologically speaking you are getting the benefit of your genome surviving for another generation.

^I agree. I refer to my stance on abortion as "pro-abortion access" because, to me "pro-life" and "pro-choice" are misnomers when many (not all) so-called "pro-lifers" are pro-death penalty and many (not all) so-called "pro-choicers" are against people deciding what kind of guns they should own or what kind of food they should be allowed to eat.

i know i mostly lurk on here- but.. i just wanted to add something. i don't think killing is good, but i do think it's something to think about. but this kinda popped up in my mind and i just kinda wanted to talk about it.
some or maybe most people with depression want to kill themselves, but they don't do it because everyone tells them not to, and because they know a lot of people care about them.
now, if a child was born into "depression", and if nobody cared about them, wouldn't they have more freedom in dying? would they care less about life?
is killing wrong because you end their life, or because you end all of the experiences they've had, and take away a person from people around them?
don't exactly know how to explain

The problem with reasonably discussing abortion is it quickly evolves into reasonably discussing sexual intercourse, which humans practically crit fail at every time.
