Katsuya Terada's The Monkey King. pretty sure its just a one shot and i think its technically a comic but it reads left to right. it has some story based in buddhism or hinduism, unsure, but regardless its clearly some adaption from some eastern religious fable, and there are a lot of references from dragonball? was dragonball based on a similar story? anyways, lots of amazing art, gore, monsters, titties, and other gratuitousness but an interesting story to hold it all up. just wish it was a little longer to actually stretch out and fill out what is happening. recommended regardless, ill buy the physical copy if i ever stumble on it https://otakuusamagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/monkeyking-scaled.jpg

@lamby yes. Dragonball the original part of series can be compared to journey to the west. The fable of the monkey king. Where he traveled collecting scrolls which is almost the same as collecting the dragonballs. The nimbus and power pole as well. The monkey king was cast down to earth in a similar fashion to Goku
