Basically one talks to a religious leader for guidance during a confession. If one were to meditate alone they could come to their own conclusion about what God was willing them to do, but by having a counselor with the person they can receive additional guidance in the matters that challenge them. Or something like that idk, haha! To be fair my family was excommunicado a long time ago. Comes with the territory when your mom is a former nun.
