Here you can vent about things that you didn't like about TV series. I have a bone to pick with the Netflix original TV series Shadow and Bone. @verucassault has started this series so I checked out the first episode. Spoilers for the first episode ahead: Okay so you got these two orphans that grew up together and are besties. All the orphans are in some kind of army and there is a magical fog that has demons or some shit in it. Main heroine's besty gets his name called for the suicide flying boat mission to cross the fog to get to imperial city. Here is when the issues arise. First red flag. The night before his suicide run mission this hot mage woman wants to have sex with him no strings attached and he refuses. HE REFUSES SEX. Think about it. Hot blooded young man refusing sex on what could be his very last night alive because he is a scared of mages. Wow. Moving on. Our main heroine wants to go with her besty on the suicide trip to protect hims so what does she do? She commits the treasonous act of buring key cartography maps that soldiers likely died to finish. Now, not only does she get sent on the boat to make new maps, her orphan soldier friends get required to go with her on the boat. Now the blood is on her hands if they die. We will revisit that here in a bit. Now you have all these assholes piling on the flying suicide boat of death into the demon hell fog. Mage captain tells everyone to not make any lights as they cross the veil to not draw any attention. What happens as soon as they cross the veil. Some dumbest immediately lights a lantern. Now how in the actual flying fuck do they let this guy waltz on the boat carrying a lantern that will literally kill everyone on board if he lights it? Dafuq? So the boat gets swarmed by flying demons from hell. All of chick's orphan friends are fighting for their lives and she just sits back hiding. What a bitch, lol! The only time she actually gives a fuck is when the best friend she has a boner for gets picked up by a demon and she emits a bright light organ that kills every demon around her. She literally could have used this power at any point when her army mates were getting slaughtered. From this moment on I hated the female lead. Veru actually corrected me when called the dude her romantic interest. She said he wasnt hot enough to be her romantic interest. She picked out some random dude in some other scene and said it was probably going to be him. She is probably right. There are some good bits in this show, but it has some horrible writing to get characters from point A to point B. The main female lead is an absolute psychopath, so it makes sense that they want to craft monster bones to her ass. End of review.

I'm on episode 5 and I have some issues with the show but it doesn't incite rage in me like it does with Arc. Probably because one of his focuses in school was writing. He can point out all the problems with characters and the story from a script and writer's perspective where the problems I have are more relatable, or practical as a common viewer. The show has its moments. There's a pivital moment with a goat I found delightful. Another part of the story follows some extraordinary characters from the underworld. A rising underworld boss with a heart of gold but bent on revenge, a shadowy female holy rogue with a mysterious past, a nuerotic sharp shooting gunslinger with a pension for gambling and an eye for the lads. A couple more interesting characters have been introduced. Its not a bad show considering I went straight into it after watching Fate the Winx Saga which had so many superficial issues amongst its characters. Its a good thing it was like only 6 episodes.
