I did read both, I just failed to differentiate what I was trying to convey versus what had already been said.
For instance, independent does not mean apolitical. I mean go to the people who have jobs in the field. See what they think. Listen to a farmer or a park ranger talk about climate change before deferring to the news as a source. You're bound to learn things you may not have picked up from scientists who specialize on the subject.
The news is meant to give you a direction to start your search, but nowadays they try to be the end all be all, when they themselves lack the understanding of what they are trying to summarize.
And yeah, I agree with the thing you put in the last sentence on that second post.

"Emotions is a effective tool to avoid logical reasoning, and trick somebody into thinking a certain way."
1000%
Manipulation.

The major issue right now is that we are being showered with garbage information. Whether it is right or wrong, it does not matter. Generally speaking it is to get people to think in a certain direction by coercing them into thinking that way. Fear is a major way to do this. Every time you see the news there is some sort of big spooky thing that is coming to get you regardless of whether it is or not. For example people are afraid of the KKK, despite there hardly being enough Klan members in a 100 mile radius of anywhere to fill a McDonalds restaurant.

I wrote dozens of papers in college every year towards the end. Honestly, I wrote more for arts, humanities, religion, philosophy, etc than I did the first year when I took the basic English courses. The difference between them though was a junior college vs a university. So the school and accreditation could factor as well.
As for scientists taking over as news anchors, I would rather instill experts in their various fields into our government as panels for advisement. I would much rather have scholars who can argue via logic and give them all the time they need than the showboaters that currently fill Congress.
But as news anchors, people might get bored and tune out if they are getting educated but it would be a better use to the 24/7 news channels out there.
