Political rants

Well you also have to consider the sheer power of government funding. If you can get your company to receive government funding you can double dip in the stock market and the government. This is something I am suspicious of since you can hide behind the government to protect you should things go awry.

@dyadka_yar but that still begs the question; would it be worth it. your also losing the trust of the public, and for a bioresearch company, that also doesnt bode well. no one will ever sign up to trial your new stuff

I'm not much of a conspiracy theory kind of guy. So I'll refrain from going too far down that rabbit hole. I just worry a bit when I recognize propaganda with unclear motives. Propaganda when done well is a scary thing. It managed to keep Japan from completely hating our guts despite the 2 nukes.

@momoichi Well there are things to consider. In the case of the Covid vaccine, how many people do you see angry at Pfzizer? Not too many, most of them are mad at Federal and State Governments. Mostly due to them making the vaccine a near mandatory thing.

@umi_nezumi i personally cant muster much sympathy for japan in this regard. we did a scorched earth strategy to preserve the lives of our people. what if one of the other axis tried the same thing with us? morally it was wrong, but pragmatically i don't see any issues. plus we did technically target weapons factories didn't we? plus those fucks didn't even apologize for the rape of nanjing until abe, so theyr a bunch of hypocrites to expect us to apologize @dyadka_yar wait wait wait, i haven't been following the news lately so i guess im missing something. why should people be mad at pfizer? what happened? adding onto the vaccine transparency, i got johnson and johnson and i was warned before hand about the stroke issue and they asked if i wanted to wait til they had another one, so theyr pretty upfront about this kinda thing

@momoichi The number isn't actually large at all. Mostly people who just plain don't like big pharma who are made at Pfizer. Further on that subject, when you have a government contract like that it is very easy to shift blame for your company onto the government. Meaning you can do rather unethical things and use the government as a scapegoat.

@dyadka_yar no no im asking why would people be angry, what did they do? as far as the scapegoating argument, id say that they know that Americans are just that stupid that they would associate their name with the bad affects. its no different then the fact that most people just read headlines before sharing out articles. brand recognition is extremely important to companies, and last thing they want is a scandal associated, and for what? what would they gain by doing something with the vaccine? there is no kurotsuchi that cant wait to tamper with DNA or something like that. most of these people working in labs wouldn't risk fucking with a government contract. this is absolutely anecdotal, but my mother worked at a place that created circuit boards for the military, and they were always extraordinarily careful with those contracts, more so than the others.

Yeah... Japan was an unapologetic, conquest-thirsty, little country at the time. That being said hating someone doesn't take much, especially if your current crappy situation wouldn't have happened if not for them. They had ordinary citizens that wouldn't feel responsible for their country's decisions. They did target strategic locations. But they also purposefully selected high population cities.

@momoichi so its their freedom of speech to publicly harass someone who was not charged with anything? Isnt this the same as saying its ok for a white perosn to use racial slurs toward a black person because freedom of speech and if they dont wnana hear it then hire private security? Yes i know it is infact free speech but there is a difference between free speech and infringing on the rights of others. There are some rights i believe we as humans have that are not otherwise mentioned in the constitution. Forgive me if im wrong but i dont think there is anything stating its wrong for me to poison the water wells but if i did that i would be killing millions of people even if it wasnt my intention. I would be taking the lifes of people and thats a crime but it isnt a crime to poison the water.
