I feel they should open the draft to females for equality :). But they wont abolish the draft, because then who would join in the event of a war? With how sensitive this generation, i dont see many people being enthusiastic to defend this country when you have them trying to burn it down.

Im honestly surprised the draft is still male only. You would think with how inclusive everyone is getting they would have fought harder for this. But seeing as the marines are going coed now its a possibility it will.

Too bad I'm too old for the draft now. I mean wars kinda suck now anyway. Though it would have been fun getting drafted, showering naked with the fellas, get ready to fight. Then we all die of typhoid instead of seeing any combat. *Sigh*

Showering naked with the boys is overrated. Too many helicopters and comments about guys fingering their assess trying to "get it clean". I was assigned to the draft as well got my notice back when i was 18. Joined the military at 20. In 2 years i would have been too old to be drafted anyway. But seeing as china is ramping shit up now i probably wouldnt have made it to my 25th birthday.

I wouldn't worry. The times of major countries fighting each other ended with nuclear weapons. Now it's just proxy wars. There's some theories they might have laser satellite weapons that would be faster than nukes but old school bayonet charges are long gone.

Ground war is still a thing, idk how we would storm the beaches of china. Especially since they ramped up defenses. More boats, more artificial islands, natural barriers, influencing elections (oh wait they decided not to i forgot lol) i dont think nukes are the end all be all.

I agree, it could still happen. I just can't see any developed nation going to full scale war like in the World wars. It's expensive, we know it's gonna end bad for everyone, and modern sensibilities don't stomach it(which is probably a good thing.) That's all I'm saying. I was kinda joking with the war stuff cause old wars are usually shown as more heroic in media. Even though most deaths in the Civil war were from disease and starvation instead of combat. So war's always suck.

I dont think war is good at all, and if posisble we should avoid. But we also cant let other countries do whatever they want. I really hope america defends their allies. Because if we show others when it comes time to defend our friends and we back off then we will lose all credibility. I mean even more now than ever. Especially after all that has happened this year.
