How do you guys define love?

Selflessness. You love someone (as opposed to being "in love"/"infatuated") once you think more about what you can do for them than what they can do for you. Pre-condition being you already love/respect yourself. Being a doormat/"simp" isn't love.

I think we can define love in 5-ish ways. 1) Rivalry - loving to compete with a person who is talented in similar areas to oneself 2) Acquaintanceship - loving someone's general presence, they are interesting but ultimately their destiny and yours are not intertwined enough to merit anything further 3) Friendship - loving someone's company so much that spending time with one another is a mutual expectation, the more time desired with one another the stronger the bond 4) Romance - loving a friend so potently that they are simply more valuable than your other friendships, personally i've justified burning bridges and cutting out close friends at my lover's behest, so i don't mean this lightly. 5) Familial Bonds - the goal for any of the previous, caring about someone so deeply that you would sacrifice all your time, energy, and lifeforce for one's well-being. obviously it is demanded that this is reciprocated to be a functioning, healthy relationship. that's kinda how i see things!
