Trump won in 2016. Trump didn't win Cali. You don't need Cali to win.

Thats the thing they have equal points when one has more states. See where im getting at? Sure population yes ik aleph will argue it. But when its 50.1 vs 49.9 you will still lose. Either way. And they get all those points with less effort.

@hell_hound7 think about it like this maybe
if cali is so important why do republicans ignore it and still win as much as dems/ doesn't that imply it actually isn't so important?

It's heavily skewed towards smaller states. Smaller states get more electoral votes per resident then bigger states. The US isn't a true democracy. The US is in indirect democracy. California has 39.51 million people and Wyoming has 578,759 people. Yet both California and Wyoming each have two Senators. It is wholly undemocratic that a state with a lot less people has the same political power in the senate as much larger states. The same principle applies in the electoral college. It is wholly undemocratic that a state with a lot less people has more electoral votes per population then much larger states.

Like in Virginia, someone in Farmville can literally have as much say as the entire city of Richmond. Called Gerrymandering for a reason.
