2020 US Presidential Election

nebelstern
In short. An angry mob's mind is the workshop of the tyrant.
nebelstern
Besides. That's my biggest issue with Libertarians in general. For them, everything is beautiful and moral so long not done by the State.
momoichi
@nebelstern no no, im saying that its just economically more viable to appeal to the majority of people so, some films are white, some black, some women, some gay, ect doesn't it only make sense that by appealing to more demographics means you appeal to more people and therefore make more money?
nebelstern
Then that's my point. If the majority of people like diversity, then the old tropes aren't as appealing anymore for a reason. Thus, the Demand plummets and you'll have to produce movies with a diverse cast and a more liberal message, that is, the Supply. I am doing something, I'll reply to this later and expose why I am not as appealed to Capitalism as I was in the past.
momoichi
@dyadka_yar im not ignoring you but that is so much to read I cant tackle it xD my eyes already hurt from the computer screen but I did see housing, that's interesting to see a conservative agree that redlining was a thing they usually dance around that like a mine field
momoichi
@nebelstern but then we agree it has nothing to do with any political agenda as it seems you were alluding to earlier? also, quite interesting, but this intersects into the "mythical wage gap" where open gender is pushed into specific fields have you heard of the scully effect? it actually adds a lot of weight to the idea that women are simply pushed into lower paying job roles instead of choosing them naturally https://seejane.org/research-informs-empowers/the-scully-effect-i-want-to-believe-in-stem/
dyadka_yar
@momoichi I personally do believe that there is overlap in things that a conservative and a liberal can agree to. I like to think that we have the same desires for the betterment of society, just a different manner of doing it.
nebelstern
It has. Albeit not directly. Art affects culture, which affects politics. Masses change opinions not by out of pure taste or such. An individual can, but not a whole mass of people. Some people trace an artistic idea with political theory and mix Empathy and Justice, creating a terrible effect. The market is rotten to the core, ruled by people who fund wars and indirectly shape politics. That's my issue with the world being ruled by billionaires rather than intellectuals. Intellectuality in the service of the market, not the opposite as it should be. Capitalism brings that problem. It makes the world prosperous in expense of virtue and beauty if misused.
momoichi
@dyadka_yar i can only speak to my personal experiences @nebelstern I'm not really following. the original point was you disliked the over representation of minorities and women in media, no?
nebelstern
The boomer's view about patriotism is backed by war movies painting war as glorious, while in reality it is a living hell. Yes. But then you said about economical viability. I will try and create a whole link between all I had said in fewer words, I promise.
