Coronavirus. Your thoughts? [Serious and Non-Serious]

Breaking news!!!! The CDC commissioner says NOT to eat or inject yourself with disinfectant!!! Our great president on the other hand...
dyadka_yar
@yasshat I don't care if you don't like the president, but I won't have you running around making things up. I watched the conference after I heard that nonsense. He was speaking on the viability of using ultraviolet light in order to kill the virus and experimental injection that has an ultraviolet light emitting material injected into the body. Not sure how that works exactly and I'd think there would be a risk to the human body to have ultraviolet light where it shouldn't be.

I saw that headline about injecting disinfectant. Goddamn media is garbage. I do wonder what liquid can carry ultraviolet light without being toxic to mammals though. And to what extent...
reisenpai66
>carrying UV light in liquid nani?? UV itself is a high enough frequency that it can damage cells' DNA and cause cancer. Never mind the fact light is a wave and not a particle that can be soluble.
yaasshat
Yarp... Point being, it was being pulled out of an ass. If you are perceived as powerful and "in the know", think VERY hard before you speak/tweet. People are dumb herd animals(in general) and will follow the leader.
verucassault
Ah so when I was in school light particles/photons make up the waves. So has the science changed?
reisenpai66
light has always been both a particle and a wave, at least since ive been in school. Light cant be trapped either unless you have a material thats 100% reflective. If its less than 100%, part of light is absorbed as energy.
verucassault
I don't think it would have to be trapped. It's entirely possible to inject a substance into someone and then propagate light particles through that solution. I think they might have been exploring how iodine dyes work when using CT scans. Am I saying it would work? No... but it's worth trying.
reisenpai66
Ah, that works by sending light through the body and it refracts off the iodone to outline a better picture i imagine
