It's just both have to agree. That's the only consent rule I remember mentioning but if I said something else let me know.

What I believe is that the defender on his own right can give up his defense and attack. However, if attacking with no defense has no consequence then everyone would do it instead of defending. So if you double attack phase during your defense phase, that you cannot defend during your opponents next attack phase. Like "Hyper Beam" in Pokemon.

I rolled 3 in between 2 and 4. So Marcus attack goes through but Kai counters so you both lose a life. 1-2
