Hm, anime is probably code geass and as for manga it's probably either berserk, magi or koe no katachi. Damn this is a hard question xD

Anime wise, it hard but no game, no life. Manga wise, I cant chose just one. And I know you didn't ask about this one but Light novel, a tie between Arifureta and No game, no life (shocker I know.)

Well then, for manga; Gantz, shaman king, Rosario + vampire, and jing king of bandits would be a good start.
