Taking a Break

makotoharuki
Idk why it's happening but MaiOtaku seems to be getting a major influx of toxic people/shitposters/trolls and I'm really over it. Not going to deactivate my account just probably won't log in for a while. Anyone I want to keep in touch with I will still talk to on discord. Might be less active in the MO discord server too, idk we'll see. Anyway I'll see most of you once the site becomes tolerable again.

You can ignore them. See you. MaiOtaku's Discord server can also be MaiOtaku~

I keep trying to tell people. THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T KEEP GIRLS! Anyways, Makoto Haruki, good luck out there, and hope things get better here if and when you return.

What a pity, we don't know who might be those toxic people.Generally speaking, people who often post on the forums are nicer than people keep everything to themselves(true..some people are quiet because they are shy)

I only come on the website once or twice every 2-3 months.

It's starting to turn into the B boards on 4chan or something. Kay, maybe not that far, but a lot of the political sentiment (Mine included) is kinda throwing salt on a lot of the crop fields, so to speak. So we can't exactly say that the forums aren't to blame here. As for the people who only talk to members on the opposite sex via pm and don't give the forums a second look, they're generally far from the public consensus of this site, so we can't reach them. Nor do we have a way of seeing exactly how bad it is. (Bare in mind, I'm not a moderator, and I don't know how much power they have there.) I don't exactly want to know what goes on in other people's private conversations, but that does seem to be a common place for harassment and toxic behavior to occur. I wish these people knew how much they were harming the site. I really do. Its not all bad though. We have gotten some good new members whom I hope will stick around long enough to endure the winter while we hopefully make our cabin warm and comfy again.

It's really unfortunate that people would do things like that; I've also seen it happen to others on here a lot recently. Maybe it's hard to understand as to why people are toxic online to begin with, but the way I always look at it is that those people are probably bullied much harsher irl by people they can't stand up to so they use the internet as an outlet as they can remain relatively anonymous. When people online are rude to me or etc. I always ask them directly if they are harassing me, and that usually gets them to stop for whatever reason. If they continue, I block them; and if they do it publicly, I report them. That's all you can really do to those kind of people. Although I never like people being mean in any way to other people, I do feel bad for those people because of the view of them I mentioned earlier. I hope you feel better about the whole situation soon, Mako; you're one of the coolest people on here and I'd hate to see you go. I'm gonna add you on Discord just in case because I guess I haven't done so yet ^^'
