To clarify, it further, my point was that I think there are morally excusable reasons to eat animals.

@mountain_tiger literally not what you said though, please quote where you said that in the beginning of our debate or your lying. I literally showed you what you started th debate off saying, and no where did you say that. You pivoted from saying i said that its never moral to eat meat, and now your saying you started with your own debate prompt, which you didn't. your just lying. also its a reasonable assumption? i could also assume you have hair, i don't think that's a bad assumption either? so you don't eat any meat, or you purely eat culled meat? those two are the only way you can eat meat and be amoral, and as nearly the entirety of meat eaters in america consume factory farmed meat, how is it an insulting assumption to assume you do as well?
mountain_tiger
@momoichi I LITERALLY copied and pasted from my first comment "I do not think it is necessarily amoral to eat an animal at all." You can go back and look. That is the main point I have been trying to make. The point is that the purpose of your assumption was your own attempt at character assassination to call me an amoral hypocrite for the sake of your own argument, which is why it is an "insulting assumption". In this case, is it not fair to assume you think all animal consumption is amoral if you support veganism? You retain consistency in stating you believe it is amoral to eat animals, but that you are willing to make exceptions for hunters and indigenous people. o7

@mountain_tiger amoral means you think its morally neutral, which is extremely ambiguous, so i assumed you meant that it was moral in some circumstances and immoral in others. to say "i don't like the meat industry BUT eating meat is amoral' implies that you find eating other kinds of meat amoral, aka your fine with meat consumption. (also hunting is cruel as well in its own right, so the only fault isnt just the meat industry. the Chinese dog meat festival isnt apart of factory farming but it is also abhorrently cruel) which means, again, if you do consume live stock products you are, by definition, a hypocrite. attempt at character assassination xD? because i assumed you ate store bought meat xD?
mountain_tiger
@momoichi It seems I have amoral and immoral mixed up, a language confusion on my part. _| ̄|○ As I understood it, it appeared that you were trying to set me up in a manner such as "well, you're a hypocrite so that makes what you said invalid!" Even if you yourself said that you don't view hypocrisy as more than a "mistake", the manner in which you used the word gave me the assumption that you were attempting to leverage my character or habits against me for the sake of your own argument. To clarify again what my point was: I agree there are some morally questionable practices for animal slaughter, but that I also believe the act of killing an animal for food itself is not immoral. Additionally, hunting, especially modern hunting, is taught in a manner that you must kill the animal quickly to reduce its suffering, and then make sure that no part of the animal is wasted afterwards. That is partly because I do not believe killing is inherently immoral. It is more a personal opinion of mine that if you are going to kill something, you should just get the business over with rather than let it linger. o7

@mountain_tiger haha no problem, its pretty obvious I'm no one to critique others on that front xD no no, I'm saying your a hypocrite because of what you said. if you buy farmed meat and you believe needlessly harming animals is immoral, that is by definition hypocrisy. if i say i hate hitting people but hit people repeatedly, I'm a hypocrite. I say one thing and do another. (also i do think hypocracy is worse than a mistake when its done knowingly. my consumption of diary and egg products is not a simple mistake, its a highlight of my own internal weaknesses. i don't give myself a pass for this.) i think your being rather hyperbolic by believing my assumption that you buy store bought food is some kind of cruel insult or judgemental leverage? it seems that your projecting some of your feelings onto the statement and seeing more than i put into it. Ok, well we can always shift the debate to that topic, because i can still argue against it. Would you participate in the Chinese dog food festival?
mountain_tiger
@momoichi Okay, I'll play. I would not participate in the Yulin Dog Festival, I'm not going to call it the "Chinese dog food festival". The main issue people have with the Yulin Dog Festival is two points, 1) people don't like seeing dogs die, and 2) people don't like animals suffering as they die. The Yulin dog festival tends to be a point people bring up because westerners are attached to dogs for domestication reasons. I am not against eating any specific animal if the situation calls for it, but I reiterate my personal preference is to "get the business over with" when it comes to sending anything to their death. o7

@mountain_tiger well yeah, their majority of people have speciesism when it comes to farm animals the domesticated pets. So can i ask why you would eat meat that's been hunted but not dog meat?
mountain_tiger
@momoichi To clarify, what exactly are we going to talk about? I assume you're going to lead me through the discussion. For the sake of reducing misunderstandings, I am sticking to my argument that eating animals is not inherently immoral. I didn't say I wouldn't eat dog meat, please read what I said. "I am not against eating any specific animal if the situation calls for it" o7

@mountain_tiger im basically trying to figure out why you wouldn't eat stray dog meat but would eat deer meat the issue I'm having with your wording is that you are acting like you don't eat farmed meat, and when i assume you do you become insulted, so ill just ask; do you eat meat from any farms?
