@baka Thanks for the advice, I think i've always had low self esteem, I should think about my good points more, do you think I should edit my profile to seem more fun to talk to?

Find out what There sense of humor is what makes them laugh what makes them cringe. Get them interested in things you like and be interested in things they like then build from there

Asking questions based off that person's profile is a good start, just showing that you can relate to something on their page or share an interest is enough to make friends. Find out what they like to do in their time off, what hobbies they have. Friends/family they like to hang out with. Just be casual and honest and a good listener. Share a bit about yourself, ask them something in return, that's all there is to it. The conversations that annoy me are random IMs where the guy obviously just wants to role-play and flirt without barely saying hello first. Which I mean some girls like that and sometimes it can be funny or break the ice, but most of the time I feel like these guys just aren't pulling it off lol. So that's kinda weird. Oh, or anytime a guy starts talking about how lonely he is like the first time you have a conversation with them is a red flag, it makes me feel like I'm their mom. I mean, if you're wondering if something might be too weird/creepy for someone to read, it probably is lol.
