Living under Communism

tigerfestivals
Anyone knows what's it like to live under communism? Is there anyone here living in any communist nation? I heard of the horrors of communism and how it's taken over 100 million lives throughout history. I'm also aware of the Soviet Union falling apart, but I always was curious as to what living under communism was really like. So to anyone living in communist nations do you mind filling me in as to what living under communism is like? Or people who once lived in one or people who visited a communist nation to see for yourself, mind filling me in? I'm quite curious.

There's a wide variety of socialist sub categories. It's good to know about them and the difference about the ideologies. This video scratches the surface but it's enough to get a better understanding of the different types of socialistic and capitalistic ideologies and some things may even be shocking for some. https://youtu.be/vyl2DeKT-Vs

Was this thread created for me lol? There are only a few socialist nations now.Living in a socialist nation is fine, though various restrictions are quite annoying. I'll write more.

@Xar Oh yeah I watched that video some time ago and was looking for it. Thanks for bringing that here I really needed it. I'm saving that video to my playlist. @MoeDictator I see you live in China. Please fill us in what it's like living in China. I hear that's it's socialist and I'm wondering what's it like living there. I hope you give a thorough explanation because I'm really curious.

Well with China being more along the lines of state-capitalism rather than a centrally planned economy with Marxist-Leninist ideology, it's probably not filled with Horror stories like North Korea. I also have a friend who lived in the Baltics when it was occupied by the USSR, but since he was a kid under Gorbi when the USSR dissolved, again, no horror stories.

I was born after 1989, so I haven't had the opportunities to participate in those horror stories, but I used to overhear "horror stories" told by older people.. Centrally planned economy was gradually replaced by market economy after 1978. The reform advocated by Deng Xiaoping.

=͟͟͞͞(꒪⌓꒪*) Life in a socialist country: Horror story 1.one-child policy: the government took control of women's wombs indirectly.
