PK in regards to the Admin and two mods I have witnessed over the many years if you PM sephy he will reply and get things done eventually another mod loves posting pictures of them selfs and the other tries to help but at one point the two mods went to war at each other if i recall correctly.
As for presence I believe I am on here more than any of them are i pop on multiple times a day but if you want things done you got to have more Mods and the ones picked would need to be sensible not promoted on popularity
and from running these things my self in the past mods always work better having a dedicated one to each section to police in there expertises.
I belive this would be a good start in getting this site back on track

also i might just point out that when people join here also it takes ages for them to show up as new members even longer to a logged in exciting member they leave before anyone knows they joined

I feel very welcomed here, I just don't like how monotonous it gets most of the time.

If the admin or someone who becomes admin starts to improve the site then the next few features are in a sense in my opinion needed. This is because any work requires compensation unless it's something the creator truly wants to do without it. And no user will give compensation unless they know things go to good use.
So here are the things.
1) A dedicated pinned thread on top of forums for only the admins/devs to modify but all to see. For new bug fixes + features and for upcoming ones. Unless this is already here and I'm blind.
2) Monthly/x amount of time polls of what people might want as new updates to the site. Out of the things the admins/devs want to do. Gives priority to the features.
3) Monthly donation goal to show that the site is supported by users + gives reason and transparency to where those donations go.
- Tiered goals: a) bug fixes b) feature 1 in a set time c) multiple features etc in a set time.
This way creators are shown support and at the same time users see that the site is getting updated regularly and that supporting it yourself has meaning. Without these one might feel that the donations are not used for anything.
This will enable continous support as long as donations are coming and if the admins are trusted people.
Overall communication is the key here.

I agree with all of that, but also the ability to quote posts is a must add....

When I first joined back in May 2013 (5 years ago), I found it somewhat difficult to fit in. Mostly since it had been my first time joining a anime site, and I wasn't sure what to expect. People came and went like a seasonal anime, and I made friends here and there by putting in the effort (some friendships that have lasted years). I'm glad I stuck around for so long and I appreciate meeting everyone and being part of MO. Even though it has had its bad and dull moments. I hope the new people that join can look past the bad and keep on going like I did. Just hang in there c:
