The differences between は and が in terms of syntax ...Many Japanese people are also confused..
In my opinion,
は: something we already know
私はエンキです。
バカはバカだ。
が:the unknown
誰かがいますか?
It depends on situation...
Also the more Japanese stuff you read, the better ur Japanese grammar will be.

Thanks for the very simple and perfect answer. I think I understand completely. We have similar verbs in Swedish. May be more difficult to explain to people with English as their mother tongue because they don't have literal verbs for both "wa" and "ga."
Many try to explain it in a very complex way like it's rocket science and that's why it's hard to find a simple answer.

I haven't studied japanese for a couple years, but I remember my books were saying that the difference between Wa and Ga was that Wa = The theme and Ga = The subject. Which seems to be pretty much the same thing, but I understood it like that:
You start the conversation with "Watashi wa ........." Establishing that the theme of your speech will be "watashi", then you can follow subsequent sentences with "Watashi ga ......." since the theme is already given, now you can use "ga" as the subject of the sentences until you need to change the theme.
But I never actually got a teacher or asked a japanese if this is correct, so I might be completely wrong.
