I'm not a hipster though. My interest predates that subculture. I actually used film cameras before digital came out and records before cd (ok my parents records and I was really young) but I did buy my first music on tape. Really though I just appreciate quality mechanical engineering instead of the plastic fantastic throw-away culture of recent decades. I own a mechanical watch and film cameras as well as a '30s vintage typewriter.
I recently bought an old school safety razor and now enjoy the closest shave ever:

Thinking of getting a Victorian era style suit:

Of course I would have to buy an actual 19th century vintage pocket watch to go with it (if I can find one I can afford):

I totally support that. I'm an antique/vintage guy too. I put together a vintage inspired outfit recently (with my favorite pocket watch of course). I also collect antique wooden chairs, books, and hand tools. Hope you find a cool suit!

Love pocket watches, but I feel the suit would be a bit much, for me anyways. As for the safty razor, always get a multipack of blades that contains a varity and get a razor with some heft(you use the weight of the razor when shaving, not the pressure.) Not all blades are the same. I go with safety razors because under $10 provides enough blades for around two years, and that's with changing the blade every week.

I read up on safety razors before I bought one. It's a Parker 111b btw. It came with Shark Super Chrome but I also bought some Polsilver Super Iridium blades to try which are supposed to be some of the sharpest short of the Japanese Feather blades (but also super smooth). The Parker razor is chrome plated brass. In that price range ($30-40) it was really a choice between Parker, Merkur, Muhle, Edwin Jagger and a few other more obscure brands. I originally bought a cheap Van Der Hagen from Walmart to try out safety razors. I liked it so I decided to buy a kit and Parker had nice kits with shaving brush and stand for $70.
I also bought some aftershave balm:

@Jack, I have a collection of old books from mostly 1870s-1920s at my parents house. My oldest is from 1711 in Latin.
