I had a girlfriend backhand me a couple times because I was snoring, I just moved to the couch. We broke up though because she told me she wanted to beat the shit out of me, because she has sadistic tendencies. She also wanted to rape me with a strapon.
I don't think I would hit a girl unless she was threating my life. With a knife or gun or something similar that could seriously damage or kill me.

I think a lot of people forget that even if someone is physically stronger than their abuser, abuse is typically not just physical. It is emotional and mental. You don't fight back because you feel like you can't or shouldn't fight back or you're afraid of what will happen later. I really wish people would stop questioning why victims don't fight back or leave and start concerning themselves with the actions of the abuser. Victim blaming doesn't help end domestic violence.
Also, I usually only hear people bring up male dv victims as a silencing tactic when dv against women is being discussed, which is terrible because male victims deserve their own space and consideration.

TL;DR: Abuse is abuse. Treat all abusers like abusers, not like "Gendered person" same crime same time.
=======================================================================================================
I've seem many scenarios where women are allowed to beat men shitless and everyone around will act like she has the right or take it as humor and wont help. i have also seen where men would "dare" raise their voice at a woman and people jump in and say "that's not how you treat a lady" or try to push him away to protect her, even if shes in the wrong.. You're a stupid if you let it happen and you're a villain if you fight back.
If you fight back
"How dare you! Shes a woman./you cant do that./ Shes weaker than you./You could have walked away./be the bigger person./ There's nothing she could have done for you to hit her./ you should never hit a woman"
and if you dont.
" or Be a man!/ You're getting punked!/ You must be letting her beat you./ You're weak./ We know who wears the pants in that relationship./ You're just letting her do that to you? You must have done something wrong"
List goes on and on for days.
Most of the male friends i had since moving to this country has faced abuse and even rape at the hands of women and rather than getting help or anything, they get shit. they get laughed at and if they dare fight back an abusive partner, then they get called the bad one. All a woman has to do is play the victim and he gets and trouble...
If i am being honest, i feel that women get more privileges and more excuses that lets them be bad and we hype it as Empowerment... For fuck sake, folks call it sexist for there to be people wanting "mens abuse shelters" but okay for their to be those for women... Or in the case of my best friend, may he dearly rest in peace, he was told it was his fault the woman beaten and raped him because he wasn't strong enough. but when he actually fought back, he was called an abuser and was shot at for "not respecting ladies..." (actually shot at when getting into his car the next day leaving from work)
Yes, men are stronger and women are weaker, but abuse is abuse and should be treated just as seriously no matter who is the hunter and prey.
This issue has affected me so many times that i do not take it lightly...
Egalitarianism over Feminism, in my opinion.

I've never had this happen to me, so I can't really say anything other than that I'd probably leave her ass the first time it happened. I don't think violence from either sex should be tolerated.

I think it's pretty shallow minded to carry forward old beliefs all the way to this seemingly progressive age. Beliefs like women being inferior to man or the only established genders being Female and Male; they all create a prejudice within the society that will carry itself forward all the way to the future generations. In my opinion, neither gender has to be viewed as superior. Males have no right to abuse females, and the same goes for females. If we just defocus our identities all the way to the level of being "human" I think it would be easier to understand why as a species we are quite equal when it comes to deserving individual and free will.
