Double Standards: Sexism and Feminism

"If you want to save money, just buy the male version, screw the cap off, and pour it into the feminine looking bottle. Bam, problem solved." DO NOT TAKE THIS AS GOOD ADVICE. THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS NO SENSE OF SMELL!!! XD :x :x :x

Hey! That bit of advice was taken directly from what I read a woman did to help save money on healthcare products XD There are some man-shampoo that smells good, from what I hear. I don't think most people doing a smell test could tell if a shampoo smells more feminine than masculine. Although I'm curious to see a test done on the matter.

I was joking. Actually there is this Axe shampoo I buy quite frequently for the smell. http://media.webcollage.net/rwvfp/wc/cp/16107354/module/axe/_cp/products/1416258207240/tab-8e3d79cf-ecf3-4674-9e99-cd1f04e55c7f/56ab6ee1-2c21-497a-a8f7-619b743294b6.jpg.w240.jpg

^This is one of the many reasons I chose Veru for my girlfriend. She's already got all this stuff figured out ^_^

Axe isn't cost efficient(Not by far.), it just smells of teen angst.;P I'll make mine simple, just treat your fellow humans as human. I believe women can do most things men can and vice versa. But, don't expect special treatment if you can't do certain jobs/things(This goes for both sexes).

I'd have to agree with Mango on a lot of the subjects and you brought up a decent point with supply and demand Arc. It's hard these days because we've started making small transitions but there's still a very long way to go. I definitely think the pay difference needs to change though, there are plenty of women more qualified than me, in many different aspects. I'll be the first to say that any day. I'd go on but I'm on my phone so typing takes forever but I agree things need to change. On a side note: @Veru/Arc You two are adorable lol

Let's just say, I'm not a feminist nor a sexist. I don't consider myself neither of those to be equal movements, one against the other. Believe it or not, feminism besides encouraging that whole stuff about equality in between both genders often forgets about other things men have to do and suffer more instead of women. For example: jail. Both of these movements aren't entirely fair, they aren't and never will be. This is why I don't want to form part of any of those. Want to be recognized as a woman? Work your ass off for it. Want to be respected as a man? Do the same. So instead of being the old sexism and the useless feminism, we should create a more human movement than these. Because that's what we all are in the end, humans.

^^^ exactly. When it boils down to it I'd like to focus on the person as a human.

"Women also make less money than men (in the US at least). We make 70 cents for every dollar a man makes. Why? That is so ludicrous and stupid. It makes no sense. If the person is doing the same kind of work and the same amount of work...their pay checks should be the same." Women make less money on the WHOLE because on the WHOLE women work fewer hours than men. Because of pregnancy and postnatal care a lot of women end up not continuing the corporate game altogether. And there is nothing wrong with traditional families. Motherhood is an UNDERRATED full-time job. But if you have two employees one of which works far more hours while the other is at home admittedly doing a very important job of their own then you're likely to pay more to the person working more. Women also tend to take far less dangerous and profitable jobs. If you look at the male and female dominated industries you'd see where I was coming from. Women just don't usually take the dangerous or strenuous but lucrative careers and often don't work as long or hard on them. Feminism in my mind is women having choice to do what they want in life as long as it does not interfere with the rights of others. This includes the right to make less profitable career ventures. In addition to fewer hours and working in less optimal career paths women(on average) do not demand higher salaries. A big part of making it in the corporate rat race is to know your worth and demand it. Many women do not choose to do that. Men make up for a vast majority of workplace accidents and take far riskier ventures. Likely because men (on average) make far riskier decisions in the business world. I could go on but the point is that the "gap" is more of an earnings gap than a wage one. Women as a whole typically choose different career paths. And hell, young women on the whole are out-earning young men. Choices make the person not their sex. Women who know their worth and work towards their potential can do great things. If the person is doing the same kind of work and the same amount of work...their pay checks should be the same. A commonly accepted fact. That is why it is illegal to make their pay checks different based on sex. Had a humanities professor who brought this very issue up and said her coworkers make more than her. She failed to mention these coworkers were science and engineering professors. Which are fields that take a little more effort to master. And that they tended to take on far more time and students.
