Halo, that's not what I meant. My grandmother disowned me because she thinks I'm an arrogant twat.
But a bond by blood can easily be the reason to love someone. I never questioned loving my family. I just do. People outside of my family don't get that bonus... They have to earn my love.

I don't get that Xynox. I understand loving people who you've known a long time but what I'm saying is that a bloodline should not automatically supplant experience. And technically speaking we're all very loosely related to one another.
I don't question love for people that I genuinely do feel it for, but being related to me does not automatically earn my trust or affection

Personally I think if you disowned a family member or some your related to, or whohave shared experiences with you. Your love and time are not worth a damn anyway, and the person who you have abandoned is probably better off without you.

Romantic love is what OP is talking about before we get to deep in the xy vs xy wars.
In a lot of ways all love is the same. It's sacrifice. But, romantic love most certainly takes time, however I don't think there's a set time that determines love, rather its actions that determine and prove love. I understand the chemical "feelings" and I hate when people call love a feeling. Love is not about feeling a certain way. I could explain my thoughts, but to an extent, I believe love to be on an individual basis that many will equate in different ways with the foundation being that of selfless sacrifice and a happy sacrifice at that.

Max,
Indeed you are.
Love is not all cotton candy clouds and unicorn farts, though. Love takes time to forge and should always grow rather than remain stagnant. As such, love takes constant work. There are many simple ways to prove love, but the best way to know if you are in love is if you're willing to make the other person happy, but you should be happy to do so. Their happiness is your happiness. It's more complex than that and yet it's one of the most basic things we learn to do.
