Message boxes.

The message system on this site seems unnecessarily intrusive and annoying in it's implantation. It seems like a horrible design choice to have tons of boxes pop up on screen one next to another, and often times closing them will result in them popping right back up again requiring a second close to stay closed. It's like using a computer infected with a nasty adware virus every time I come here. Closing those windows also seems to mark the messages as being read which can easily result in forgetting to respond to it, and the site is practically unusable if you don't close them as they block so much of the screen. Take steam for example. When someone messages you there you get a pop up window, but then when a second person messages you it flashes their name in a new tab. So, does the admin expect people to use the site with those windows blocking everything, Or does he expect you to respond to every message right then and there? Because it's a real pain in the ass to browse the site with those boxes in the way and they keep popping up, and like I mentioned before closing them marks the messages as being read. This is a mindbogglingly horrible design and I can't believe more people are commenting on it.

I totally agree. I was about to complain how annoying and glitchy it is. I even deleted some messages by accident because they sometimes close by themselves.

Has anyone encountered the glitch where if you have a few tabs of MO open with chat boxes up, some tabs will cause the chat boxes to freak out and scroll up and down at the speed of light when you aren't even doing anything.

I have to say Neet, I do agree. The chat boxes have always been annoying; I don't even use them on here since I'm messaged so infrequently these days, and I'm rarely on at the same time as anyone else.
