When talking about multiple anime, I tend to use 'Japanese animations'

I've thought about it and I am now prepared to answer. I say "anime" when speaking about the subculture or a specific anime. I believe I have used the term "animes" when referring to a quantity of anime, but I have also used "anime" as well in that regard. It's weird, the singular version is just so flexible. Yeah I have to explain this one.. To me, it sounds better to say, "How many animes have this theme?" than "How many anime...". Guess it's just the country bumpkin in me. I also have problems saying "mice" when referring to the plural computer components. Why? Because my bumpkin brain automatically reserves mice for the mammal.
