Hello everyone.

delrian21
Nice to meet you all. I've never really attempted to do something like this, however there's a first time for everything right? Just a few things about me; I'm a swordsman and always have been, even since I was a child of 3 I've practiced swordplay. I've worked with a blacksmith and forged a blade only once, but the blade is one of my most valued possessions. I fence however do not find it as entertaining as using much heavier and stronger blades. However it's a duelist's sport so it is at least civilized. I have LARP'd a small amount of times, but I can hardly get into it when the blades have no significance. From a strategic standpoint though, it is an incredibly fun experience to sit and try and work as a unit. I'm more of an anime person in the sense that I love some of the far fetched blade designs that come from the Jrpg and anime designs. I usually like to stay practical, but there are definitely times when an energy sword or a gunblade sound marvelous from a battle viewpoint. So on that note, I wouldn't mind meeting some new people, making some friends, or maybe meeting someone special. I don't expect much in searching for a partner; but how will you ever get noticed if you don't at least put yourself put there? Anyway, hit me up. I'll talk if I have time to

Hello, and welcome to MaiOtaku! So your a swordsman huh? That is way awesome! What style of swordsmanship do you mainly study? Something like Kendo, or do you primarily study Fencing? I can't say im a swordsman, but i have been practicing martial arts since, a young age. The only sword martial art i have studied, would be Kumdo. I own lots of different kinds weapons though. I practice with the ropedart, nunchucks, staff, and sword. I am not very good with the weapons aspect of fighting. I primarily tend to stick unarmed combat. If you like strategy a lot , you ought to read about "The Book Of Five Rings" ; sorry for the bombardment of questions. Well enough of my rambling an welcome to the clan!

I mostly studied in European sword play simply because my blade of choice is the war sword, (bastard sword, hand-and-a-half sword). But I've studied and practiced kendo and Iaido; kendo was much more akin to what I was used to. Iaido was more of a disciplinary or showing of appreciation in my opinion. As far as fencing and dueling goes, it's definitely much more accepted, occurring, and wide spread. But it's more of an art form then a battle tactic. In a world of armor, very little from fencing matters. Or if you're smart enough to just move left, split their tiny excuse for a blade in half, etc. the real fun for me comes from kendo and European tournament style sword play. Although it usually uses a katana, I've taken a lot of teachings and movements from kendo along with martial arts to perfect my ability with my favorite sword. Europeans may sound cool, but they were far insuperior to the Asian cultures, specifically japan, in swordplay and sword construction. Only the Vikings ever came close in the steel work. But; I still prefer a cleaving weapon like a war sword compared to a katana simply because a katana is a very delicate weapon that requires constant upkeep. A war sword can be dull, broken, bent, or even shattered, and that thing will still be deadly.

WOW. You're awesome. I'd love to try LARP type combat. Did you participate in Dagorhir, by chance?

I've been to one of the lotr wars yeah haha. Those are fun just to feel like you're part of this grand army. Plus even though it's fake armor and weapons, they take it pretty seriously so there are still very minor injuries on the battlefield. It's always funny when you're sitting on the sideline for a drink and some guy who scuffed his elbow sits beside you like, "I know, let's not talk about this..."
