Anyone going or went to Japan?

satoshix
I think I said I was going to Japan in Jan 2020 but that might change to the summer of 2020 or 2021. Trying to save up hours from work. Also I went to Japan every summer till the age of 12 to visit my family since i'm half Japanese. Hopefully I can go back again since i'm an adult now xD.

I wanted to go this year but unfortunately I have to use my vacation time for other things. Hopefully next year I can go! I want to eat a crap ton of ramen then go for a ton of hikes.

I studied abroad for a little over 2 months in highschool! It was an amazing experience! (Except for the 2 hour bus and train ride to school!) I would love to go again and see how much has changed since I was there :>

Can a local travel agency help with guidance? Perhaps I could just work hard (-_-' )

I came back a week ago from trip to Japan and Korea. I visited Tokyo, Kanazawa, Fukuoka, Busan, and Seoul within 2 weeks. If you guys are willing to try Anime Pilgrimage, then visiting cities other than Tokyo is really worth it. Akihabara is great and all, but sometimes it feels like tourist trap due to their incredible selection of anime merchandise not found in our own countries. I really liked Kanazawa for its small hometown feel. Fukuoka/Hakata has laid back international feel and l tried their "famous" Tonkotsu (Pork broth) ramen. One of the best thing about the trip when I found brand new ita (Anime girl)-cycling jersey for 50% off and met cycling travellers in Kanazawa and Fukuoka. I find it incredible to see cyclists traveling 100km from city to city with bicycle. While I was in Fukuoka, I went to Studio Ghibli art exhibition at Fukuoka City Museum. They showed life size model of giant insects from Nausicaa and Cat Bus from Totoro. Also original drawings, notes, and artworks used in their posters and films. I went to Karatsu and Saga while in Kyushu. Karatsu is known for "Yuri on Ice" and "Zombieland Saga" locales and I visited sites where characters are featured in the show.

I went to Japan twice without local travel agency. You still need to save money for air fare, lodging, and other expenses.

Going next month for a Kyushu adventure.

Good for you. I visited Kyushu for Anime Pilgrimage for 3 days and I wished I had two more days.

Wish I could, but I don't think it'll ever happen.
