Some great posts. A beautiful poem by Sherflow. Pika's story was well worth the wait. Sunflower produced some very entertaining fan fiction again too (can I also be in one of them hehe).
Installment 11 (Previous parts can be found on pages 151, 166, 214, 220, 246, 253, 260, 269, 271, 279):
Veruca wanted to ask what was going on. The urgency on Lenny’s face made the gravity of the situation clear to her though. Our protagonist stood up. Her feet pounded on the wooden floor as she ran down the hallway. The last thing she heard before she exited her house was furniture being toppled and vases being broken. Clearly the struggle between Lenny and Josephina was great. Stepping out of the house her face was stung by pounding rain. She ran through the village. The mud sucked in her shoes each time she made contact with the ground Her chest were feeling as if they were about to burst. She sucked in lungful’s of air as she came to a stop next to Arc’s house. It always comes back to Arc. Raising herself up, she looked into the window. Where Arc usually lay there was just an empty bed. She peeked into the windows of each house along the way but no one was home.
All of a sudden there was a rhythmic tapping behind her. It sounded like a nail being drummed against a window. Turning around she could just about make out a silhouette of a figure in the darkness.
Josephina’s voice rose from the darkness, “The woman Lenny told you not to stop”.
“Where is she?” Veruca said as her tears were washed away instantly by the torrent of rain continuing to crash down on them.
The pale woman just answered with a cackling laugh.
Our heroine promptly turned tail, hoping Lenny’s advice still was useful. She ran until the village was nothing but a dot behind her. Running she came to forests that wasn’t even familiar to her. Tired and soaked she slumped against an aged oak. Every limb felt as heavy as lead as she lay there. She felt her eyes close.

Her eyes fluttered open. The weak early morning sunlight flooded her room. Groggily she looked around but no one was present. She was still in her clothes but they weren’t wet or dirty. She quickly jumped out of the bed when she suddenly remembered her experience. She ran down the hallway until she came to the living room. The window where Lenny had come in wasn’t broken. Nothing in the room was out of place. She had to get her bearings. She showered and had a stiff breakfast to get her into the mood for solving this mystery. She decided the best plan of action was to go and see Lenny. Stepping out Veruca saw that the sun was still low and the air was still chilly. Her warm breath condensed and formed mist in front of her as she made the short trip to Lenny’s palatial home. She promptly came to a stop in front of the massive, elaborately carved iron wood doors. She took one of the cold metal knockers and thumped it against the door. The sound echoed down the length of the house. No one came though. She took the knocker again. Just as she was about to bring it down again on the door she heard countless locks being unfastened. The door opened an inch and an emerald green eye regarded her with suspicion.

I'm just going to leave this here...
14th December 2014
She took her tea and cake to the high table and pulled up a stool. She hadn't wanted to sit at this table, but all the small ones were taken. It was a small Starbucks in the middle of the High Chelmer shopping precinct, completely open to the loud buzz of shoppers bustling back and forth. She opened her laptop and plugged in her headphones, glad she could finally relax. She had a week off work, and her CELTA had finished almost three weeks ago, so she had no work to do. That lack of work left a huge gap in her free time.
She'd decided to try an online dating site. A lot of people used them, and people she knew said they weren't so bad. She wasn't really looking for anyone; mainly curious. The chances of her finding anyone she liked were low; at least anyone she liked in that way. She thought of most dating sites being filled with people 'looking for a good time', not to mention the fakers who didn't share their true selves, and the few potential kidnappers and rapists. The best sites were the ones you had to pay to use, but she wasn’t sure she really wanted to pay for a service she was just experimenting with. She wanted to meet people with her interests, so on a whim she typed in ‘anime dating’ and hit search.
There were a few sites that came up, but one she’d already heard about online was Mai Otaku. She clicked to look at it. It looked simple enough; it had forums and quite a few users, though most seemed to be American. It wasn’t ideal, but she had the feeling it was as close as she was going to get; the chances of a mostly UK site were slim to none, and at least this one seemed popular. With that in mind, she set to creating her profile.
{Well, on every other site I go by Manga_bird…} She thought as she typed in the new user name. She filled in her own details, opting to keep them as simple as possible and mostly privatised. She saw no harm in sharing her age and location; since most users were abroad there wasn’t much risk there. She needed to create an avatar for the site. There were standard templates available, or you could upload your own. Luckily she had one ready; she’d used a portrait drawn by Mair Perkins as her image…
Manga_bird stood and looked in the mirror, wearing a simple white dress as she finalised her image. Her eyes were a bright blue, and her hair trailed in blonde waves past her shoulders, with a few pink streaks. It was time to choose her outfit. She settled on a Lolita styled silk pink and black dress with trailing sleeves. There was black lace around the neckline and cuffs, as well as the petticoat underneath. On her head she chose a matching fascinator, with a black lace veil. Looking down she settled on long white socks with a lace trim and black boots with leather bows. Looking in the mirror once more, Manga_bird twirled, seeing a neatly tied bow at the back of the dress. Before she completed her profile a small golden watch was added to her wrist. This would tell her when she had new messages and notifications, and would allow her to move from one part of the site to another without having to walk back to her page all the time. This would make navigation and communication faster and easier.
Feeling more prepared, Manga_bird decided to enter the site, opening an old wooden door. Immediately the blank space around her crumbled and turned black with green swirls circling her as the word ‘loading…’ appeared. When the world settled again Manga_bird found herself in her own room, which would be her online profile page. She could design the space to be anything she wanted; a bedroom, classroom, garden, living room; even a supermarket if she wanted. She set to work.
This would be where new users would come to look at her, so she wanted it to reflect her likes and dislikes. With that in mind she decided on a small café, with wooden décor. She chose a mixture of small two person tables, scattering them about the place. She also added in a few booths along the side of the room for group conversations. There was a counter, complete with a glass cake cabinet filled with colourful cakes of all kinds. On the shelves were china teapots with matching cups and saucers, and even a couple of coffee cups. There was a coffee machine, and an area to make hot chocolate too. She added lace curtains to the windows and then set on choosing a location outside. She’d gone to university in South Wales, so she decided on sloping hills and countryside views on a warm spring day, adding in a herd of sheep to make it more homely. Opening the door she could feel the warmth of the sun on her skin, and smell the light scented flowers on the fresh breeze. It was like she had never left. The best part was that she could change the location whenever she pleased, as long as she had a picture template in her computer to load. As a finishing touch she added white lace table cloths to the small tables, along with sugar bowls and salt and pepper; there was a small kitchen area out back, so she could also offer light snacks.
She decided to look through the forums, and with this in mind she walked to a small wooden door, which would open into the website. Opening the door she was once again surrounded by the black and green loading world, which soon crumbled into what looked like the inside of an old yet sophisticated mansion. She could see other users walking back and forth, most of them using animated avatars like she had, only most were characters copied from popular anime of the day. As she walked along the corridor she came to a sign. It seemed that each floor of the mansion was for a separate forum. Right now she was on the floor for ‘Bugs and Suggestions’, but there was an ‘Introduction’ level below, where you could create a new room to introduce yourself.
She headed to the stairs and walked down, her steps muffled somewhat by the faded red carpet that covered the wooden floor. Despite being so large, the colourful pictures dotted along the walls, the carpet and the warmth gave the place a homely feel. On the next floor down Manga_bird approached a blank section of wall, bringing up her watch and tapping the activation button. A holographic display shot up before her eyes, asking her if she wanted to create a new thread. Selecting yes, she watched as a new door stretched itself upwards and outwards from the centre of the wall.
Stepping inside Manga_bird stood hesitantly in the round space. There was a long table, with many empty chairs. She took the head chair since it was her space and set to recording her introductory message. {What should I say?} She wondered as she sat looking around the lonely room. There were chairs around the table where active people could join her, as well as a small auditorium for users who just wanted to have a look. {Keep it simple; it’s just a small intro.} She decided as she look up with a smile.
“Hello, just another new person stopping by.” She said with a small head tilt, hoping that it looked alright. Heading to the auditorium she played back the message, unable to recognise her own voice. It wasn’t great, but it would do. She brought up the holo-display and tapped to open the thread to other users before leaving to explore some more.
