@Arc I got a 56 in the dice roll by the way. You can probably use it for the next episode. Here is an installment of something from me: Purple lights strobe as hundreds of bodies move to the same lurid beats. Each person indistinct from the next as they meld together as the ceaseless dancing continues. Together they form one long twitching snake of human bodies gyrating. To the side of the dance floor colourful seating accommodates the tired or drunk patrons. One old man sitting in one of these seating niches stood out from the rest of the clientele. His alert eyes twinkle in a face that is dominated by a long, grey beard. He watches silently as people go by until a gaggle of 20-somethings walk past. “Gather around children and hear my story.” They twirl around in disbelief. One of the men gathers himself and says, “Dude, firstly-we’re not children. Secondly- not the time or place man.” “My apologies. When you reach my age most people look like children. It’s always the right time for a story though” says the ancient one while grinning crookedly. The group doesn’t choose to walk away or attack the stranger. Maybe it is the enigmatic smile and confident demeanour of the stranger that piques the curiosity of the group of clubbers. He gives off the aura of urgency of someone that has an important secret to share. “Gather by this fire and I’ll start telling my tale” the old man says with apparent glee. They want to point out that his “fire” is actually a massive lava lamp. None of them have the heart . They gather around him in the booth. He rubs his hands together as if this is some kind of a magical incantation and launches into his story. http://img03.deviantart.net/1d44/i/2012/077/d/2/club_lights_2_by_ume7stock-d4t670d.jpg In years gone by before even I can remember there was an idyllic village called Duz. It was nestled among emerald, rolling hills of farmland for as far as the eye could see. One cobbled street ran through the village with quaint, colourful wooden houses on either side of it. The villagers never saw much traffic coming through their humble place. There was only the odd farmer coming in to sell their produce now and again at the couple of stalls in the centre. Life followed a steady, peaceful rhythm there. What the Duzians were most proud of were their young people that were in the flowering of their youth. Lux, Arc, Lolicuteness, Sunflower, Red, Maria, Pika-chan, Panda, Veruca, Frost, Donnie, Flightless, Illusion, Haru, Matt, Gamzee were some of their names. As you can hear a lot of them had pretty weird nicknames. I’m not one to judge though. My memory isn’t what it used to be so I might have missed a few names too. That is history for you though. There wasn’t a lot to do in the village in the way of recreation so naturally a lot of gossip centred on the love lives of these young people. For example everyone in the village knew that Gamzee was sneaking around Maria’s house late in the evenings. Her eyes wandered towards Matt when he bent over though- “Whoa, Whoa old dude. This Maria was quite a player, heh?” The aged man stroked his voluminous beard, annoyed at the interruption. “It is not for me to judge. I’m just a teller of tales. If I was a reader of this story I would be quite irritated with your interruption. Let’s get back on track.” Frequently Veruca’s shock of purple hair could be seen in the distance bobbing beside Lux’s blonde mane in the fields as they strolled and talked in the fields. *End of Installment 1*
