What are your thoughts?

How would you feel if someone on this site was posing as someone else that you know personally? What are your thoughts/reactions to it? Most people have created accounts here because it's a dating site right? I came here for that initially but it ended up being an extension of anime friend/networking. I bring that up because isn't it kinda wrong to be someone else looking for a relationship online? This IS a thing happening to me atm and although I kind of understand if that person had low self-esteem - it's also messed up.

They don't talk to me ,so I don't care. Those I would think who would wast there time on it. Seems kind of pointless to me.

What do you mean by posing? Stealing pics? Acting to be a certain other member (you)? In either case call the culprit out on it. Confront the poser privately first and if they don't react, do it publicly. Catfishing is the worst.

Xynox - Yea they've posted pics of them. Not posing as me but as someone I know. The terms of service don't actually touch on any of this.

That's a shame but if you let the person they pose as know about it, and they don't agree with the use of their own pics then the person in fact is even violating the law. If the copyright owner doesn't agree with the use of the images they are to be taken down.

Basically catfishing, and I find it wrong to do. If I develop feelings for someone, I need to know they're real. Thank goodness for Skype and cellphones (to ask for proof)

I think I actually came across that once on this site with someone who I suspect was posing as a girl to lead on unsuspecting guys but lost interest in me when I didn't take the bait. I knew of at least two dudes here who claims to both be in a relationship with 'her' and think there might have been others. Besides coming on a bit strong what made it really suspicious was that they were a little too perfect for a single girl. I invited a friend to check out the site and he encountered someone he started to hit it off with and had a lot in common with, but apparently he thinks they were acting a bit too manly and what triggered some alarms was when they they brought up needing money or something like that.
