Hey I feel like an anime noob

Oh damn, Akame ga Kill turned out to be pretty terrible. Have you already tried all the 'gateway' anime like Shingeki no Kyojin or uh, Full Metal Alchemist? Pretty sure Your Lie in April is pretty widely-known now too.

I watched Shingeki no Kyojin (I would definitely fight on the front lines or be a farmer or something) religiously when it came out and ended up very very disappointed. I want more of it but production schedules say otherwise lol (please hurry with season 2 people). I finished watching brotherhood and spent way too many work hours over analyzing the story constantly wondering to myself if the ending could have been done... better *please don't hate me for my opinions* I am currently awaiting updates on "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon" updates and thats all I know at the current moment >_<

Kyojin? That's considered gateway now huh? I remember when gateway used to be Tenchi, Bebop, Trigun... Chobits... lol

hmmm Trigun, Wouldn't the world be better shaped to look like Vash's world. I sure as hell would be terrified being a Space Cowboy =p

Akame ga Kill! is good, if you don't mind most of the characters dying. I always recommend Code Geass, Bleach, Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero, Evangelion and Death Note.
