Gunpla panel lining advice

animekid
Hey everybody. I just bought a Master Grade Aegis which would be my first Master Grade Gundam and for all intents and purposes my second gunpla model. I've never done anything with panel lining though it is supposed to really help it look better. Could anybody sharing any tips at all about how to do panel lining? What areas should I look to work on, how much is too much or too little? What kind of markers/colors? If anybody had pictures of Master Grade Aegis that they did that would be awesome lol.

I think panel lining depends a bit on the model and how many lines it has or that you plan to add. On some models it can be a nice way to make the detailing stand out a bit, but if you go overboard it can just make things look silly and ugly. This for example I think is just horrible. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attachments/radicons-customs/14777d1211270651-tf-classics-jetfire-panel-lined-dscn4424as7.jpg The key is to be subtle about it and only do panel lining in moderation. https://fudoushin.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/img_2522.jpg As for how to actually go about it this video goes over the different methods pretty decently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exT3VwzWpu8

For the first picture I like how detailed it looks with the panel lining but at the same time I agree that that is just WAY too much panel lining that it looks really bad.....almost fake for lack of a better word. I love the second picture, it's a great reference for comparison and I'll check out the video. Thanks a lot!

There is a 1st gen transformer based on this model, Skyfire or something like that. I used to have one.

I think I know who your talking about. He's Megatron's right hand man in every Beast Wars/Transformers incarnation isn't he?
