Some anime titles that people recommend a lot for anime newcomers are Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing (they both also have great English dubs in case the person you are trying to get into anime doesn't like reading subtitles). If your brother likes SAO then I'd also recommend Log Horizon, DanMachi (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?), and possibly "The irregular at magic high school".

If he likes SAO then that means he might like other anime that are total shit. Try any of the Shounen Jump big three or Attack On Titan.
