Hey guys, this is an addendum to a short I wrote a month or so ago. The story works on it's own, but it will be enriched if you read my other short. http://www.maiotaku.com/mytopics/1102/mytopics/23783 Naya awoke to a cold breeze coming from the door to her room, left slightly ajar. The pounding of the rain on the wooden roof of the village in shook her out of her sleepiness. She decided to get up and close the door. On her way, she noticed a piece of paper half open on the night stand that she didn't remember before. She brought it to the window and used the pale light of the lantern handing in front of the inn to read it. Her eyes strained to read the note. Especially on rainy nights like this her body felt extremely heavy. It was the side effect of her ability that she had grown accustomed to over the years. Sunlight quite literally gives her the energy she uses to perform small miracles. Without it, her frail body is starved. But tonight, she felt like she had to read the letter. It was from Baku. The person she had hired to be his escort a year ago had abandoned her. Her feet gave way. The letter next to her, she didn't know what to do. It's true, she was on her way home. She knew from the very start that eventually they would have to part ways, but... What was she feeling? In order to heal others, she wasn't allowed to love. Isolation and purity. It was a small sacrifice she had to make for the sake of others. She told Baku this. She came to terms with her feelings for Baku and moved past it. But why? Her cheeks were warm, and tears squeezed out ran down her cheek. Get up! She told herself. Her body fought against her commands, wanting to collapse from the rush of emotions she was feeling and the suffocating rain outside. http://i.imgur.com/B33yzvc.jpg?1 It was cold outside. He had a hood on his jacket, but he felt like letting the rain numb his emotions. Baku shuffled down the dirt road. Just like old times, he thought. He should reach the city in a couple of miles. He gripped his elbows and hunched when a cold breeze ran through. In any other circumstance walking outside in this weather was a bad idea, but he chose this night specifically because Nyah would not be able to follow him. The rain was the final severance to their bond. One foot in front of the other. That's all he could tell himself in order to keep going. From the city he could take the train back up north to Far Water to look for a lead to the next man he has to kill. All he had left was revenge. He had no other purpose now. He looks up and sees the faint beauty of the moon peaking out of the fog. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . http://i.imgur.com/DYtVTQp.jpg?1 "Baku..." He felt a faint tug on the back of his jacket. Behind him was a girl with her hair pulled back, soaked in the rain. He almost didn't believe it. This girl shuddering horribly, legs wobbling, couldn't possibly be her. "Nyah..." The words escaped his breath, almost muted by the rain. She pushed him with all of her might, but it didn't equate to much. "You idiot!" she screamed. "You think you can just write a note and run away? Why do you always do things like that? You never tell anybody what your thinking, and it's so annoying!" She beat on his chest, angered by his surprised face. "Now I'm all wet, and my hair is all sticky! If you wanted to go, you should have just said it to my face you coward"! She wiped her hair away from her face, and felt something draped over her shoulders. "Oh, I'm the idiot? Look who ran outside in her pajamas." Baku laughed. There was a playfulness in his voice that she hadn't heard in a while. She looked up at him and saw that he had draped his jacket over her. He rubbed her shoulders to warm her up. "How did you follow me? I thought you couldn't--" "D-don't touch me!" She pushed Baku away. However, in that screaming fit, she had drained most of the energy she had barely gathered to follow him. She fell backward, but Baku catches her and pulls her close. "Here, I'll carry you back to the inn. You'll catch a cold out here." "Look whose talking," she said, averting her gaze. She plants her arms between them, not wanting him to pick her up. "Why did you come?" "I..." The thought had never crossed her mind. She had already made the decision to follow him before considering it. "...Don't want you to leave." The words were barely audible in the rain. She was so embarrassed that their faces were so close that the fog of their breaths intertwined. She continues, "...I don't want you to-" Suddenly she feels a warm feeling on her lips. Her first real kiss. Something she never should have allowed, but her hands had given way and let him in. Their noses bumped a little bit and Baku pulled back. "S-sorry. I shouldn't have..." "It's okay. It's my decision now. Don't ever leave me again." She griped his shirt with all her remaining strength and drew her lips to his and they met in the middle. It was a small, closed kiss, but it lasted forever. She had never felt anything like it before. She was overwhelmed by the feeling she had inside. Nyah fell backward, taking Baku down with her. Her face was flushed with exhaustion. "Nyah! Are you okay?" "Tired..." "Oh! Sorry, I forgot about your condition." "...not a condition...you idiot..." Baku scooped her up and carried her on his back. "Yeah, I am an idiot," He laughed. He was soaked to his core, shuddering terribly, but he was so happy. "I could be your permanent bodyguard. I'll still have to charge you, though," he joked. He didn't know he could feel this happy again. Everything was as it should be. He was burning with a new fire inside. Everything outside was brighter. New. Fresh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HaRE6kVluQg Before she finally succumbed to her fatigue, he could have sworn he heard her breath the words into his ear, "I love you too".

Another very awesome excerpt, although now I'm confused. What are Baku and Nyah - so many questions! This kind of story always sucks me in. What's gonna happen to them now?

Thanks for reading! Yes, there is a lot more to the story. Boku's past, Naya's past, what happens next, I have it all. I dunno, if enough people want me to I might continue the series. Let me know what you want me to write about next and I'll definitely consider it. I think it would be great to have others weigh in on where the what direction that they want to go.
