Visual novel/dating sims

I have yet to try either visual novels or dating Sims but I have heard that some are really well written. Could anybody recommend any with particularly good stories to them? I have a feeling that I wouldn't like dating sims but I am always willing to be enlightened. Oh and I don't have a computer so it would be a big plus if it was on consoles.

Thanks for the suggestions! But are these games that need to be downloaded on to a computer? @anigamer1999 Steins gate would have to be one of my favorite shows of all time. I completely forgot that it started as a visual novel. Is it very different from the series? I wouldn't feel very enthusiastic about static images and text telling a story that I already know

Is it possible to download steam games on ps3/4 or xbox360? If it is that would raise my chances to try one out considerably. Oh and just in case... Noporno please
