What is the 1st anime you watched that turned you into an Otaku??

I am 25 next month, my first anime was when I was 5, I'd wake up early before school and watch Dragon Ball/Sailor moon on YTV channel 25

The few Pokémon movies that I saw didn't count, since I'm loyal to the games instead. First anime I chose to watch was Squid Girl, and I guess it all started there really. Loved the show, wanted to see more anime comedies. I then started watching Polar Bear's Cafe and Gintama, and it only went uphill for me.

Banner of the Stars. I had watched anime before it but that is the turning point for me. It turned anime from Cartoons to something different in my eyes. Strongly suggest you watch it but only if your at 80s or 90s kid like me otherwise I fear it will bore you because it very much an anime of its time.
