There are just too many to pick a favorite, lol... I have yet to watch a show that was absolutely perfect =P, and even then, different genres give different styles. I'd have to say that the stuff by the late Satoshi Kun is typically, quality wise, some of the best stuff out there. You could also say that Code Geass was very fast paced, had a good story, good character development, and so on, but its start was just too weak to put it up in the realm of instant masterpieces =p. Cowboy Bebop's issue was the lack of a central story until the end. I guess if I had to pick one, Monster is probably one of the best ones I have ever seen. It isn't one of the ones I enjoyed the most, but quality wise, it has extremely realistic characters and a very incredible story ; ). However, I did enjoy Hayate, The Combat Butler, My Bride is a Mermaid, Clannad, Kanon, Tsubasa, xxxHOLIC, and so on more =). *edit* now that I think about it, shows like Tears to Tiara and Pandora Hearts are among the best shows I have ever seen. Of course, Minami-Ke is also excellent, with the dummy, the older perfect sister type, and the little genius tsundere (3 sisters). Does this sound familiar? Think Ah! My Goddess and you'll have it. Of course, the entire premise is different. Anyways, I should stop now before I go on about a million other shows =O.
