In life, it doesn't matter what's right or wrong. The only thing that matters is how society goes by. I personally live my life based on ethical morality. Actions without convictions are evil, as is convictions without actions. I follow the Church's teachings. People will hate me for it. Part of my responsibility is teaching The Word. It's what Christ ordered. But I don't teach it, I live it. Or at least, I try to the best of my ability. We are all humans with sin. Even the Pope is a sinner. Unless he is a Saint. Then he isn't. But we won't know unless a miracle is performed. I don't need logic or proof to explain God. I just live accordance with the teaching and if people like what I teach, then they will join.

What your saying is equivocal to saying that you can't call the holocaust a genocide because there were any individual murders in it. <<< Phrasing? This doesn't make sense. Are you honestly suggesting that the church has been raping little boys since its been created? <<Not as a part of its doctorine, no, but since they said, hey if you want to be a priest you have to abstain from sexual intercourse? That would put it at about the halfway mark in history. Darkhorse, back me up here, how sacred is that sperm? Pretty darn sacred. What happens when people abstain from sexual interactions of any nature? They can become sexually repressed. Consider what happened to people in the Victorian era. Couldn't get away with showing your ankles, but oh dungeon play became so popular! Boys are readily available. http://www.patheos.com/blogs/geneveith/2011/05/homosexuality-abusing-priests/

I dont mind athiesm or religion as a concept, but if you mock someone for beliving in their god or relying on it to get through in life then you are an asshole and not nearly as intelligent as you think you are. This also goes both ways, dont use freedom of religion to force anyone into your beliefs. Btw im not replying to anyones comment or anything. Im just making a random comment d: Also adding umm dont group and blame others for the mistakes and assholeness of certain ppl. Thats like saying isis represents all islamic ppl Or that westboro represents all christians or that every atheist is an asshole etc etc.

I wouldn't know about that, even if they become sexually repressed isn't it a personal choice to execute sexual intercourses with children? Almost every sin is something you choose to do instead of doing a good thing ( i say almost because homosexuals are regarded as sinners too and they can't help it, i have other opinions about that) but then again every religion has it cons. I am a christian but I'm not catholic. I don't think I would ever join the catholic church for many reasons. However, believing in Jesus for me is a whole different thing than doing what a religion tells you to do. Men will not be saved by doing good deeds either but by believing in the one who saved us (this is actually written in the Bible)

I agree with @lordragna to some extend. Even tho both religions have done atrocities, the vast majority of people shrugged it off. Is the same for the critical situations most parts in the world are suffering right now. Plus, what's more powerful: the Catholic church or the muslims? This should be appreciated too since we all know that the more money you have the more you can go out of something unpunished.

I didn't say that. I really didn't know if you were talking about one in particular or all of them but the way that you refer to it as singular makes it seem like it's not as big of a deal as it is. On the link you provided: The study's primary focus was on the Catholic Church. I think the percentage you are referring to is of the priests/deacons/bishops surveyed, 4.4% of them were accused of sexual abuse. From what I can find there's actually no results of a study that shows a comparison to other religious orders. There were a couple of sources I found that tried to elude that the nature of child abuse shows no favoritism, that's common sense. But without evidence of abuse from clergy in the Catholic Church to clergy in other churches, there is no basis for comparison.

--just additional info, the study was actually interesting. I don't think the results were ...ehhh I'll use the word absolute... in that many of the clergymen surveyed died before they went to trial or were convicted and then some who were accused died before they were surveyed. But there are variables with all studies. Meh
