On the United States

elder_reaper
Its no secret I'm an anti-Westernist, and both a Sinophile and Japanophile. I grew up and lived in the US most of my life, except for a total of one month in two overseas countries. For the record I lived two weeks in China, as in the People's Republic, and Guatemala. I've grown to dislike this country. Its nowhere near as good as often depicted - go to even a capital city like Richmond, where I currently live, and the lines between rich and poor can literally be drawn on the ground. Everything is deteriorating, rotting, due to the circlejerk, corrupted government. They're useless. On the war front, the US is currently involved far too much in the Middle East, it even isn't remotely the US's business to be over there - you can't declare war on a terrorist group, like ISIL, like you can a country. Furthermore, the military is full of bloodthirsty murderers. Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rXPrfnU3G0 As an atheist and Buddhist I face contention from the Christian majority of this country, no matter where I've lived. Been called a hopeless pacifist, hedonist, devil worshipper, corrupting influence and monster. And those names are directed whenever I defend myself from their assault on my faith, and lack of a god. Thus I am leaving. Soon, within the next 3-4 years preferably. 2 to finish school, and 1-2 to tie up my affairs here, turn over my familial obligations to my brother, who's closer to them anyways, and change my name finally to one that reflects who I am. A Catholic name, which is what I have, haunts me everyday. So I don't want to hear anyone spout lies that the US is the greatest country in the world. Its not. Its a shithole corporatocracy, and reminds me heavily of Midgar from FF7. Anyone who can't see the similarities is deluded.

Blind hatred? No, I have reasons. You may not agree with them, but then again - they're mine, not yours. And devil_gene, yeah, once I started FF7 I immediately felt a metaphor for the US in there. Its a police state.

lol the shinra coporation started to randomly play in my head and hatred? nah, more like I don't like how things are going over there. there's a lot I can say about the USA and what they're doing and what they've done. the list would go on and on.

There are good and bad aspects about most everything. You take the good and improve on the bad. It's all you can do.

I live in Richmond and I obviously understand what you mean by saying, "the lines between rich and poor can literally be drawn on the ground." That being said you didn't "live" in China or Guatemala. You visited. It's a big difference. Not to mention how big China is. My simple response is that there are many problems in the U.S. just as there are in many places in the world. We are an imperfect people. And it's ridiculous you mention China (after a 2 week 'visit' nonetheless) like you have some sort of special freedom there as Buddhist. The Chinese government hates religion.
