Sketchbooks

So, do you carry a sketchbook around? What kind is it? What do you usually draw in it? And lastly, what motivates you to keep drawing in your sketchbook? Always have a sketchbook with me, have one handy in every room at my place. They're all various sizes of Moleskine, they're amazing books. Majority of my sketches are gesture drawings of every living thing I see, obsessed with trying to capture motions, posture, in my sketchbook. Gesture drawings itself, is what motivates me to sketch whenever possible. So, what bout you?

I'm still a beginner, so most of my sketchbooks are filled with line and ellipse exercises. One is for my learning of perspective and another one is for when I get into gesture.

I have a 5 x 3.5 inch one that keeps all my ideas and preliminary work. There's also studies and just real life doodles to warm me up before I start anything serious. And sometimes when I'm lazy I'll just turn one of those sketches into digital art.

I have an old reporter's notebook which I use for basically everything. Drawing, taking notes at uni etc... I'd usually have an epiphany on the bus or something, and write it down or make a doodle for later.

I have a backpack with several notebooks, and three sketchbooks, all different styles but usually 8.5x11. It also contains 2-3 drawing kits, one with charcoal included.

i only carry a sketchbook when hangout with my drawing buddies. I just use moleskine watercolor 5x2.5. usually draw a portrait and building.
