Lol I love the Bay Area too but I've never really seen trees there other than in those mountains. In the cities, it seems more rare to find big trees.

Rina: I was in the East Bay, and there were tons of Eucalyptus trees that apparently invaded the area shortly after being introduced to the region. It was beautiful, and when the air was humid, you could smell it.
Of course in the city, most big green things with bark are choked out and relegated to smaller areas.
But by Berkeley there's a good amount of parks and hiking trails and stuff.
And the fiercer winds, in my experience, have been the Santa Ana ones here in SoCal! Back in 2006 there was a crazy squall that darkened the sky in SE Los Angeles and ruined everything in ten minutes flat. Never seen anything like it since.
