okay well i went to MEPS and i went through processing and everything but the job i wanted wasn't available so i decided not to pick one. then the chief of the recruiters office i go to told me that if i didn't pick something today he wouldn't send me back because it would cost him money. plus he said he could switch my job easier if i was in d.e.p. so i picked a temporary job. but they haven't switched me and i'm in an awkward position because i have no idea if they are going to switch me or not and i really don't want to cancel my contract and have to go through MEPS again and wait another 6+ months just to go to basic. i just was wondering if someone who knows the program or has been through it thinks this is weird. the job i want is to be a corpsman and go green side as FMF which is a 5 year contract. another thing is that i can switch jobs after a year and a half but i still would have to add another 5 year contract to switch to corpsman. im just left with a weird feeling, they told me to trust them. so i have, but again im left in a place where i know nothing but what they tell me and it feels off to me. i hope im just being paranoid.

It does sound a weird that they haven't switched you yet, but I have not myself been in such a situation. I just know in my own case it took them a month to get back to me about my own job, so they tend to be slow to do anything. Do you know what command you'd be planning on going to? I know a lot of people that are corpsmen themselves. They might know more than I. I don't think the command really makes a difference, but most of the corpsmen I know are stationed at Balboa, so not a ship or anything like that. I don't blame you for worrying, but hopefully it's just procrastination or that whole Navy time thing. Try not to stress, but maybe contact your recruiter. It seems like maybe you need to communicate with him regularly to make sure everything is going right. Hang in there, and I hope things clear up. Once I get the opportunity I will let you know what I hear from my people, how long it would take and what might be holding you up.

Was in the Army for a while. Dunno how much I could help you with the Navy though.

Two Brothers in the Armed service, one a Sharpshooter and another Paratrooper. I was going to Join but wasn't allowed due to depression and other things.

alright thanks for the help missallyesterday, i've talked to my recruiter about it and he said they are trying to switch me once it becomes available. just about the only thing i can do is sit tight and wait i guess.

I'm glad that is the only issue, you know how it goes. Hope there is an opening soon!
