Do you ever get the feeling you're simply not meant to be in a relationship with someone? I don't mean because you think you're ugly or because you think people don't like you. I mean like it's something that will always be alien to you. A thing to be seen from afar but you know you shouldn't take part in. Why I feel relationships probably aren't for me is a bit complicated. For one I find most people undesirable to say the least. The women in my area are faaar too masculine and/or skanky for my tastes so I pretty much gave up on finding anyone locally. Online seems like a better option. Sure most people you find online are there because they're desperate but that in itself I don't mind, just a matter of why they're desperate, like if they have a bunch of kids from former marriages or something like that. secondly, I'm an introvert who enjoys being alone most of the time. I can also have trouble expressing emotions and can seem kinda cold and distant a lot of the time. Think dandere/kuudere (people keep mixing these two up so it's hard to know which to go with) I also can't much stand physical contact with people, feels like being electrocuted, Although I think I could probably try to get used to it if that special person came along. I've got trust issues as touched on in the previous post and I wouldn't want to commit to someone who's just gonna drop me like a brick the second something better comes along. In general relationships seem Then there's the fact that I'm currently unemployed and don't really have much of a future. If that alone doesn't drive off most women I don't know what will. I came close recently with someone I met online. They liked me and I liked them. She was around my age, also a neet, and shared a lot of the same interests. Unfortunately they already had a boyfriend and I think they were just playing with me out of boredom, possibly just wanted the extra attention. I was willing to still be friends but they blew me off for world of warcraft instead and I haven't talked to them since. Guess you could say that's one of the things that lead me here, besides simply not having much better to do. I think things might work out if I found someone similar to myself, but for the most part it seems everyone's far too revolting for me, too good for someone like me, they're taken, or just impossible to find. So far it seems like most of the women around here deserve a lot better than anything I got to offer. I doubt I'd be able to trust anyone though short of the type that couldn't live without me, but good luck finding that right? lol

Hmm... I'll be the first to admit that I'm not good with women, children, or humans in general. But I don't think there's a God given gift that you can have that makes you good at or instantly understand relationships. It's not like all those people in successful relationships suddenly bumped into one another and the light bulb turned on that told them how to be together. If it just came naturally to most people then this place wouldn't exist. I think relationships are something you have to believe in, fight for, and shed tears over. But that's just two cents from someone whose biggest relationship was a few years and long-distance.

I've met multiple people on here who expect to be alone forever. But there's no reason you have to be unless you want to be. Just because you are different doesn't mean someone won't want to be with you. Or just because you've had bad experiences in the past doesn't mean you can't find someone who will treat you right.

I really hope that's not the case. It is starting to puzzle me how I can't find "best friends and more" even though I've found almost everything in between.

Isn't your cosplaying a social thing Manga_bird? I don't know enough about it to know if it helps meet new people one could connect with.

Ummm I cosplay at conventions, where I tend to meet up with old university friends, and I often wear Lolita outside of work. Cosplay at conventions is a great way to meet people, it gives you something to talk about and signals that you share interests at the same time.
