This is not an educated opinion.
My guess is that African-American men are just another exotic foreigner. Your average white boy doesn't get much attention unless they have blonde hair. This was awhile ago so things may have changed.

Yep. Well, we've got three different countries worth of opinion. You'll do fine as a visitor. We'll always be yabanjin in general. That does not mean that you'll never meet an open minded person (like jineko) who knows the score.

Meh. I'm fine with living in London. I may love Japan and stuff, but I'd never see myself living there.
