ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

So what do yall think of this new thing gone viral? people doing it without knowing that its for a good cause. Have any of yall done it, Im just asking cuss I got nominated/challenged to do it, but I really dont know if I want to do it lol

I haven't done it yet because unfortunately I have no money to donate. Here's what I think about it: when done properly by people who know what the heck they're doing it for and not just jumping on a viral bandwagon, it's a very good thing. And that's being said by people who either have ALS or have family or friends with ALS. Plus, when done with its original intent where you donate $10 and dump the bucket of ice water on your head, or if you chicken out donate $100 instead. Granted, you can donate any amount, but that's the basic rule of the challenge. Most people will do the challenge and donate large sums anyway. However, nothing pisses me off more than the people who don't even so much as Google what the reasoning behind it is and just does it for the sake of doing it or for being a part of a "movement". Before you do something, research it first, it'll take a whole five minutes. If you can't even so much as spare five minutes just to look up what it is, than you really shouldn't even be on the internet at all. There's a reason the internet is called the Information Superhighway. Also equally idiotic are people who take the ice bucket instead of donating (which is a variation of the rules) or in other words, to get out of donating, they dump the ice water on their heads, which not only is a waste of water, but also a form of "slacktivism". Much like giving a "Like" on Facebook doesn't really do anything, doing the ice bucket challenge without donating makes no real difference and instead is just downright foolish, especially at this point in time.

Honestly, I just hate when they don't at least say it's for ALS in the video. Even if they themselves don't donate, at least the awareness is being raised, but when there isn't even a mention of ALS it bothers me because that's just ruining both purposes of the challenge.

Hey, if Kermit the frog can do it, you can too. But yeah, please do it for the right reason. It's not really a big thing if all youre doing is dumping ice water on yourself, it just makes it a fun thing and gains attention when youre having fun while donating to a worthy cause. Ypure like the clown at a dunking bootg.;)

Remember kids, you don't catch colds from being cold. Good on you!

The concept of it was to raise awareness, that's great, over 1.8 million dollars donated to research is more than amazing. However, so many people 1.) aren't donating 2.) aren't even mentioning that it's for ALS awareness so it losing its purpose 3.) are just doing it for personal attention/internet fame. To me, it seems that the majority of these people could care less about the message and just want "likes" on their videos. Why do you need to be "challenged" to care for something? Why do you have to be "tagged" to help? If I'm tagged, I'm not doing it. 1.) I'm broke. After bills, I only have $5 to my name, so, nope, I'm not donating. 2.) I don't want to dump ice water on myself. It's cold, it's a waste of water, and I have back pain and muscle spasms, I don't want to trigger it. 3.)I don't need anyone to tag me to do a good deed 4.)I don't appreciate the "do it or else you pay more", charity isn't about that 5.) I choose my charity, not other people. The concept of it lost its meaning, in my personal opinion. If people want to do this challenge, great, if they don't, great. Make the decision to help others on your own instead of waiting for a fad. I do a lot to help my community and shelters, I would help all charities I know of if I could, but I can't.

Stupid viral crap. Someone already died from it. If you want to donate money, just donate. Most people are just doing it to be trendy. Someone should start a "Cliff Jumping Challenge" so all the stupid people can go jump off a cliff.

LOL how does someone die from the ice bucket challenge, at least is not as retarded as the fire challenge

It's good that those who are doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge are raising ALS awareness to a certain extent. Personally, I find the challenge silly and a waste of water. Instead, I would donate money directly to the people who are doing the research.
