Closest thing that I've seen would be Another and Ghost stories, but even then I wouldnt call Another a horror.

Try Higurashi if you can handle a trippy plot, Hellsing/Hellsing ultimate and Gantz if you want horror plus action

well my fav "horror"/"scary" movie is The Blair Witch Project
it genuinely made me scare without having to use pop ups or screamers, the whole movie and story line was just creepy

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls
IMO, Higurashi has some horror elements but is not horror. More thriller/mystery/psychological.

Well majority of horrors do fall into the "thriller" category I guess so it can be very hard to find strictly horror.
My personal favorites have been Tokyo Ghoul, Higurashi, Umineko, Corpse Party, Future Diary, Deadman Wonderland, Pupa (manga though, not the anime xD), and some others that are not coming to mind. Though, not all of the ones I listed are strictly horror but they are still worth checking out if you go the time :)
