Censorship in Japanese game imports

arc
<img src="http://www.borgo7.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Monster-Monpiece-psvita-censored.jpg"width="400" height="300"></img> Today is the day a controversial Japanese game gets imported to the U.S. for the vita, Monster Monpiece. It's a cardgame that had 40 cards censored because some of the monster girls depicted looked underaged, so the images were removed. This game follows Bravery Default, which the chibi characters were also altered to have more clothing on. What is your opinion on censorship in games? I for one don't like censorship in games. I take the same stance with violence in games as I do with sexual content. As an adult I should have the right to view these games as the developers intended. People who would be offended should just not buy the game.

America sucks. True Japan has censored porn, but the US just has stupid censors. Atelier Rorona I believe, Rorona was suppose to be like 14, but they changed to be 17 or something because they didn't want a young girl as the protagonist or something like that.

Yeah, I don't understand why they changed Rorona's age. I mean, is 17 any more legal then 14? I do however support them trying to state that the characters are older because of legalities, but taking content out of a game because it might offend someone is just wrong, especially if you are just offending your target audiance by censoring it in the first place.

Yep, welcome to 'Murica. The country that censors media that'll "hurt peoples feelings" and doesn't support gay marriage in most of the country.

Lolicon is not even illegal in the US but it almost was and still on shaky ground. After all the internet child porn scandal blew up in the 90s (After average Americans became aware of cp because of the internet being used for distribution ). There was a massive conservative backlash. A bunch of states raised the age of consent to 16 or 18 (It was 13 in New Mexico, 12 in Delaware and 14 in a few states). There were tons of news stories of cp busts. And some movies almost didn't get made, like the remake of Lolita. And for awhile they were trying to make any depiction of a girl who "appeared" to be under 18, whether real or cartoon, illegal whether she was or not. But that finally got thrown out of the courts.

In Lolita they had to change her age from 12 to 14 for the movie remake because the movie was so controversial at the time. For background on the book, here is a famous quote from the main character: "Now I wish to introduce the following idea. Between the age limits of nine and fourteen there occur maidens who, to certain bewitched travelers, twice or many times older than they, reveal their true nature which is not human, but nymphic (that is, demoniac); and these chosen creatures I propose to designate as 'nymphets.'"

They tried to ban anime lolicon too. Probably saying it stimulated child molesters to abuse children or some such and was immoral.

America has been stupid since the mid 90's rap era. Just don't mind it, they'll censor everything in the future like overprotective retards over simple things. A tit won't kill, god damn! America is the most immature and brainless place I've ever lived. This is why I strongly hated America growing up. I don't worship myself to Japan like those annoying weeaboos who wish they're hella asian and will never be, I worship about almost every part in Asia except North Korea.
