smoking and drinking

How do you feel about them and do you do them? Would you care if your significant other smoked or drank? I've never smoked anything, nor will I. I do drink however, but controlled and not often, like once every other month. And usually just for a game night with a friend or a bottle of beer or glass of wine while watching anime with my sister. Personally i wouldn't mind much if my other smoked weed occasionally, just not regularly, and same with drinking, as long as it's not often and doesn't affect our relationship i'm fine. I dont really find it attractive to be with a smoker but i'm not one to control someone. Just came to mind after seeing the beer bottle my sister gave me earlier today.

I don't smoke, and never will. I have no interest in drinking either. As for a significant other? I'd heavily prefer it if they didn't smoke, it's usually a deal breaker for me. Drinking is okay so long as they aren't an alcoholic, i'd prefer if they didn't drink either. Friends? They can do what they want. Although i'd naturally be concerned if things got out of hand. And since OP mentioned pot specifically, I guess we're talking about drugs and not cigarettes? I'll never do it. I refuse to date someone who does, but don't care if my friends do it. Same goes for any other type of drug.

Hmm.... I smoke after work, but never at any other time (cigarettes). I drink occasionally, but I've never been drunk/hung over. Any other drugs are a no-no for me. For my friends? I really don't mind what they do as long as they aren't so crazy that they get themselves in jail or harm someone else. For my significant other? Not a chain smoker (been there, done that. Tasted awful.). I don't think I'd be able to date someone who gets piss drunk. And thennnnn I'd rather they stay away from illegal drugs.

I both smoke cigarettes and drink occasionally. I have no problem with people that smoke or drink as well. However, I would be cautious if my friend were drinking too much. As long as neither get in the way of our relationship, I don't mind if my partner smokes and drinks. I'd have to say that I am not okay with recreational pot smoking, however. Military job... random drug testing... The same goes for illegal substances and recreational taking of prescription pills.

Yeah, forgot to mention cigarettes and other drugs. But basically what I meant was nothing beyond weed (occasional cigs are fine too, like Miya does) I have been really wasted before, but never have I had a hangover. I do know what my limits are now though. @miya - Yeah I can imagine a chain smoker would taste awful, that's another reason why I wouldn't want them to smoke regularly. And for me, even if I am super drunk, I know what I'm doing/thinking for the most part, like I still know what logical choices to choose, never been angry, but I do fail at typing... @Shin - Understandable. Kinda like myself with my friends: I don't care if they do, my best friend smokes weed and cigs a lot, another best friend use to do shrooms. As long as they don't involve me in it I'm fine, and if they start getting into serious drugs, I will voice my opinion to them bluntly. IMO it's hard to find many people who don't smoke anything or drink around my area (good 'ol north bay California area)

I wouldn't mind if they smoked ( even tho I personally wouldn't) as long as its like outside or you have a window open if you're smoking indoors(smoke smell on everything would irritating lol). I have no problem with drinking either, I do sometimes but not to the point I get drunk. Its fine you do so long as its not an "everday I'm gonna get wasted!" type thing.

When it comes to smoking, I don't mind it, just rather be away from it because I hate the scent that much. I have plenty of friends whom smoke but they always do it away from where others are. So I'd prefer not to have a partner who smokes but I also have learned to deal with people who do. When It comes to drinking. I do it occasionally. I've been drunk to the point where I blacked out once, and from that point on I've learned to control myself. (that hospital bill isn't going to pay itself) So I wouldn't mind if they smoked or drink as long as they have control over it and it doesn't interfere with the relationship like Missallyesterday said.

@Fudo Zen: eww, no! Smoking inside is a no no. It turns the walls yellow!!! Also, the scent sticks to everything and it's really hard to get rid of it >.>

I can't stand cigarettes or the smell of them, but if I met someone who does smoke, I wouldn't let it affect my decision to be with them, especially if I really like that person. I'm a social drinker as far as alcohol goes, I usually only drink when I'm out or if I'm out with others, I'm not one of those people that gets drunk alone.
