Profile pictures on this website

So, having been coming to this website occasionally for about 2-3 days now, I've noticed A LOT of people here use anime pictures in lieu of pictures of themselves. I was under the impression this is more of a "otaku dating" style website, so could someone explain to me why so many people don't have their pictures on a "dating" website?

A lot of people on here tend to treat this site more like facebook than a dating site. Some people can be pretty shy and don't want to show many actual pics of themselves, but I'd say if you're serious about finding a relationship on here, your chances do seriously improve if you have at least a couple of pics of yourself on your profile.

Yeah, I noticed it too. Some people do upload photos of themselves behind their anime faces if you look. But I do wonder for those who don't use their photos..I wonder what they look like. XD

^I am one of those that have a picture of myself in my gallery somewhere... Although its old by now as I've gotten a haircut and etc. There was another thread on people using moar of their real pics somewhere a while back... Edit: OH it was a post by Alexis Lynn about people needing to smile moar in their pictures or something lol xD

^ lol Exhero Anyway I think its because they aren't comfortable enough to show their cutie faces to stranger yet and will maybe show it later in the future when they feel comfortable enough. :3 or like me I feel like a blackmage :p Like Exherokid I have a picture of myself in the gallery, not the best but if people are curious then its better than nothing huh..

Idk people who dont have photos of themselves kind of sits weird with me. Idk it just makes me feel like they're hiding something, if I'm talking to someone I wanna know what they look like but that's just kind of a personal thing for me. Idk I get why people don't wanna upload photos though

I agree with you Cecil. I defiantly can see how this is more of a facebook as opposed to a dating site. I do my fair share of profile stalking. I can understand the ones that have a real pic somewhere in there, but the ones with just one anime picture... seems strange in my opinion. Kind of sad :( This site seemed so perfect to meeting online nerdy women like me :( but it has more of a lion king circle of life style friendship thing going on.

Half the reason I don't use one is because if I upload a pic taken with my phone camera on here, it uploads upside down. Anime pics I upload from my phone don't seem to do that, though.

I think also the majority of people here are shy - (This is what I have noticed anyway - could be totally different with everyone else) And even if they like someone they won't make a move on em XD And are too scared to leave the friend circle - Hence the FBness.
